OREANDA-NEWS. At the Wangshington Summit of Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (GSEP) held during June 5 and 7th, 2013, SGCC Chairman Liu Zhenya attended five discussions, namely how to realize United Nations Sustainable Energy for All (UNSE4ALL) initiative, the electric power industry’s challenges in an era of rising costs and falling prices, the impact of technology and innovation on the current business models, actions for “UNSE4ALL”, and micro grid and hazard prevention.

Liu Zhenya believed in an active response to the “UNSE4ALL”initiative launched by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moo. To solve the problems concerning energy security, environment and efficiency, and to realize its sustainable development, there was a need to stick to the Macro Energy Perspective, construct the Strong and Smart Grid, build an energy guarantee system centered on electricity, replace other energies with electricity and promote the energy allocation on a global basis. At the same time, Liu illustrated the strategic map for constructing trans-continental transmission channels and introduced major progresses SGCC has made in Strong & Smart Grid’s planning, technology, standard, equipment and engineering. In addition, Liu also shed some light on SGCC’s efforts in developing clean energy, constructing Strong & Smart Grid, and “Power for All” in order to meet the goal of “UNSE4ALL” in China. While summarizing the three common challenges, namely security guarantee, green development, and lowering costs while enhancing efficiency, faced by the electric power enterprises, Liu also illustrated SGCC’s ideas, measures and performances in coping with these challenges in terms of management innovation and corporate development.

Liu Zhenya co-hosted the discussion on “Micro Grid and Hazard Prevention” with IEC President Mr.Klaus Wucherer. Liu pointed out the grids in the world were developing to be strong, smart and green and the coordinated development and integration between UHV grids and grids at all levels was the key for constructing a “strong, smart, green” grid of the next generation. With the advancement of the new-generation grid and the interconnection between trans-national and trans-continental grids, it has become very necessary to establish a unified standard for international grid technology and management. SGCC is supporting the formulation, promotion and application of international grid standards with its own actions to support mutually beneficial energy cooperation among global electric power companies, realize “UNSE4ALL”, and the sustainable development of global energy.
