OREANDA-NEWS. Kaspersky Lab announces a new addition to its security solutions portfolio – Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent. The latest member of its virtualization security product range has been designed specifically for Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Hyper-V, and will reduce the consumption of system resources by offloading security functions to the hypervisor layer. Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent will include Kaspersky’s cloud assisted anti-virus together with firewall, host-intrusion prevention systems (HIPS), and granular controls for applications, devices, and web administration.

Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent is designed to increase the operational efficiency of virtual infrastructures by eliminating the resource impacts associated with running traditional agent-based solutions on each virtual machine. Scanning and associated security functions are coordinated via a single, centralized security virtual machine deployed on each physical host.

It is not just a unified solution for both Citrix and Microsoft, but a solution with optimized performance through tight hypervisor integration for both platforms.

Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent was presented for the first time at Citrix Synergy 2013 in Los Angeles on May 22, 2013. The product is being actively developed now and will be available for beta-testing during next fall.

Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent is being developed in-house by Kaspersky Lab, by the same team of experts that has built the company’s entire business-to-business software portfolio. That means this new virtual technology is fully integrated – not just “compatible” – with Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, the company’s flagship corporate solution. With Kaspersky Lab, a company’s security for physical machines, virtual environments and mobile devices can all be managed from the same “pane of glass,” which gives businesses the same centralized deployment, management and reporting capabilities typically used by enterprise IT departments to manage modern security challenges. Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent is also a highly scalable solution. It can be implemented in different companies starting from SMBs to large Enterprise environments.

Kaspersky Security for Virtualization-Light Agent adds to the company’s portfolio of agentless anti-malware and network security software – a powerful security solution for both VDI and server environments.

“Over the last few years, we’ve seen the demand for virtualization grow worldwide, and cybercriminals will always follow the money by exploiting the latest technologies. Kaspersky Lab anticipated this and produced a virtualization security product that not only beat many leading vendors to market, but also delivers smoother performance and easier installation,” said Nikolay Grebennikov, Chief Technology Officer at Kaspersky Lab.
