OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2013. SGCC EVP Zheng Baosen attended the EURELECTRIC Annual Convention & Conference 2013 in Bologna on behalf of SGCC and delivered a keynote speech themed as“Building Strong and Smart Grid to Develop Energy Scientifically”, which was favorably echoed with other delegates.

Zheng Baosen pointed out that energy was the premise for socio-economic development and the scientific and sustainable development of energy was a common challenge in the world, especially for China since the country has an increasing need for energy in a long time to come. Based on the current situation but for a long-term purpose, there was an urgent need to replace coal and gas with electricity to elevate the proportion of electricity in end-energy consumption and transmit electricity over long distances, thus providing a proper basis for the electrification of Chinese economy. It could also lower energy consumption, promote energy conservation and realize a clean, safe and scientific development of energy.

Zheng Baosen also introduced a series of innovative achievements in Strong and Smart Grid made by SGCC and the company’s blueprint for the future of smart grid. He explained that SGCC would accelerate its construction of UHV grids to promote the revolution of energy production and consumption and push for a scientific and sustainable development of energy.

The event attracted 200 delegates from the EU Energy Commission, the World Energy Council, Enel, EDF, E-on and other international organizations and electric power companies.
