OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2013. Exploration-sponsored College Preparatory Program students got a chance to explore Saudi Aramco recently during a two-day visit to facilities in Dhahran and ‘Ain Dar.

Exploration general manager Misfir A. AzZahrani met with the students and started by congratulating them for their choice of education. He encouraged them to work hard while attending their college programs in the various carefully selected universities around the world.

AzZahrani also shared with the students a brief overview on the functions performed by the various departments using different disciplines and how each discipline in petroleum geoscience is important for achieving its objectives and addresses specific surface and subsurface challenges.

He encouraged the students to enjoy the new experience of learning geoscience subjects, alerted them to the opportunity of dealing with new experiences and cultural differences and encouraged them to make that learning experience a positive one and be a true representative of themselves, their families, their company and, most importantly, their country.

AzZahrani assured the students that they will be in touch with their training organization as well as with their proponent organization, and he reminded them that the company will not find it hard to come all the way to shake their hand and say thank you to high achievers.

Exploration Planning and Support Staff members Waseem A. Bogary, Monirah N. Dossary and Abdullah T. Hajji gave a presentation titled “Exploration Journey,” one of several designed to expand students’ knowledge of the geosciences.

Meanwhile, geologist Zakiyah M. Alkhadrawi and geophysicist Ahmed H. Alhani shared their experiences in the College Degree Program for Non-Employees program and how the experiences enriched their knowledge and understanding while studying abroad.

Students visited Wellsite Geology and the Geosteering Center, where they experienced real-time operations at one of the world’s most advanced remote drilling facilities. After a lunch in their honor, students visited the Core Laboratory and saw firsthand how geologists seek clues in carefully cataloged drilling cores, some of which date back to the early years of Saudi Aramco.
