OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the export of foodstuff and livestock from Moldova amounted to USD 140.1 million in January-April, 2013, 8.9% up as compared with January-April, 2012.

At the same time, in January-April, 2013 Moldova imported foodstuff and livestock at a sum of USD 190.6 million, 16.3% up. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-April, 2013 Moldovan exported meat and meat products at a sum of USD 5.8 million, 36% up as compared with January-April, 2012 whereas the import of these goods made a sum of USD 11.2 million (8.7% up).

The export of dairy products and eggs made up USD 3.7 million (83.5% up), whereas their import was USD 14.9 million (30.7% up). The export of sugar, sugar products and honey from Moldova made up USD 9.9 million (2.3% down) whereas their import was USD 12.3 million (65.3% up). The export of crops and their derivatives made up USD 23.3 million (47.6% up), whereas their import was USD 32.5 million (7.8% up). The export of livestock amounted to USD 2.5 million (14.6% up), the import being USD 1.8 million (9.2% up).

The fruit and vegetables was one of few items among foodstuff and livestock export to exceed import in monetary terms. They were exported at a sum of USD 90.6 million, 1.8% up and imported at a sum of USD 51.3 million, 21.1% up. Coffee, tea, cacao, spices and their derivatives were exported at a sum of USD 1.5 million, 48.9% up and imported at a sum of USD 17.2 million, 2.3% up; the export of various foods and additives amounted to USD 0.9 million, 38.4% up, the import being USD 24.8 million, 14.2% up.

Forage, non-milled crops excepted, was exported at a sum of USD 1.9 million (78.9% down) and imported at the same sum of USD 7.5 million (52.1% up). Besides, in January-April, 2013 Moldova imported fish, lobsters and water invertebrate animas at a sum of USD 17.1 million, 0.1% down. These items are absent from the list of goods exported from Moldova.
