OREANDA-NEWS. NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport took part in the Air Transport Conference hosted by the international exhibition complex Novosibirsk Expocentre on June 5th within the framework of the 2nd Transport of Siberia Forum. The event highlighted the issues of civil aviation development, principal development models of regional passenger route networks. Besides, the forum covered such topics as public-private partnership within aviation industry, trends in the air cargo transportation markets, improvement of passenger service quality, options to reduce operational costs of domestic flights and other relevant issues.

Announced as a partner of the forum, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport presented its demo stand to participants of the event. The Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Valeriy OKULOV, the Governor of the Novosibirsk region Vasiliy YURCHENKO, representatives of the local government, industry state authorities and guests had the opportunity to familiarize with the construction project of the International Postal Exchange Office based at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport as well as transfer traffic development programme and other prospects of aviation enterprise development. The General Director of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport Evgeniy YANKILEVICH emphasized that Novosibirsk has a strong potential for transfer passenger traffic development:

“In the short term we expect to serve 350,000 transfer passengers, while in the future the transfer share will increase up to 30% of the total passenger traffic at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport”, stated Evgeniy Yankilevich.

At the Air Transport Conference Valeriy OKULOV introduced subsidizing models for regional flights which allow to retain and extend air transport links between regional centers and smaller towns. NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport became one of the air hubs chosen for regional air routes development: summer schedule includes flights to the cities of West Siberia which meet state support requirements.

The conference programme included presentations of the following delegates from Airport Tolmachevo JSC: the General Director Evgeniy YANKILEVICH, the Commercial Director Gregory POMERANTSEV and GR Director Kirill POKROVSKIY as well as the General Director of NOVAPORT LLC Sergey RUDAKOV.

Evgeniy YANKILEVICH focused on the issues of intensive development of the area adjacent to NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport due to its status of special economic zone while Gregory POMERANTSEV assured that as the center of Siberia, Novosibirsk is a prospective air hub for transfer traffic development on the routes between Europe and South East Asia. Kirill POKROVSKIY also underlined significance of air cargo streams decentralization and the opportunity to handle mail and cargo from China and South East Asia in Novosibirsk bypassing Moscow air hub. In his turn, Sergey RUDAKOV reported on perspectives of the public-private partnership in the development of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport and other members of the NOVAPORT holding group.
