Organised street play and audio-visual shows in five different villages More than 2,000 people witnessed the special programmes Cuttack/Bhubneshwar: Tata Power, India's largest integrated power utility, has continuously endeavoured to improve the lives of communities around its plant and project locations. In continuation with this philosophy, Tata Power organised various initiatives to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS. These initiatives were conducted in different villages such as Pankpal, Digarpur, Kumbarigadea, Dakhrapada and Mantira. Various street plays and audio-visual shows were conducted in these villages to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS among the villagers. The extensive programmes continued in these villages for three days where more than 2,000 villagers attended and were part of these initiatives. All the villagers, especially the youth and young children, were highly interested in knowing more about HIV/AIDS, how it infects a human being and prevention measures. Speaking on the initiative, Purushottam Thakur, head - Odisha projects, said, “We are glad to provide good health services and create awareness about various fatal diseases among the villagers. Kalinganagar, being an industrial area, has high chances of HIV infection compared to other areas and organising such initiatives in this area are highly essential. We plan to organise many more such initiatives in the future as well.” This programme was well-attended by company officials, locals and opinion-makers from the villages including women and adolescent girls.
