OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2013. Tashkent hosted a business forum and cooperation exchange with the participation of entrepreneurs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

During the event, Uzbek and South Korean business owners representing such fields as construction, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, textiles, tourism and services were able to negotiate on further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation.

The Chairman of the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan Alisher Shaykhov emphasized the consistent development of relations between our countries in various areas, including trade and economy, legal basis of which are the agreements reached during the meeting of the two presidents.

At present, the most favoured nation regime exists between our countries and more than two hundred documents of a bilateral nature have been signed. South Korea is one of the largest partners of Uzbekistan in the trade and economic sphere.

The volume of goods turnover between the two countries in 2012 amounted to more than 2.13 billion USD, which is made up 31.4 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

In Uzbekistan, there are over 400 companies with participation of Korean investments. All these testify to the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries.

In the course of the event, the Korean businessmen received detailed information on the priority areas of economic reforms of our country and the opportunities created for the development of small business and private entrepreneurship.
