OREANDA-NEWS.  July 09, 2013. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev met the Dean of Institute of French Petroleum (IFP School) Philippe Pinchon. Greeting the guest, Mr. Abdullayev emphasized the high level of relations between the two countries, mentioned the French Total among the first foreign companies to cooperate in Azerbaijani oil and gas sector.

He pointed out the successful cooperation between Total, Gas de France and SOCAR, noted the discovery of a new gas-condensate field last year as a result of this cooperation. As stated at the meeting, the Baku French Lyceum in was established under the intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and France as an expression of great interest in French educational system. SOCAR, along with Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of France in Azerbaijan, is represented at the management committee and carries out the construction of the school.

Expressing his gratitude to SOCAR President for invitation, the Dean of IFP School Philippe Pinchon said the memorandum of cooperation with Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) and cooperation between the organizations will have positive results.

According to him, 27 Azeri students study at IFP School and appreciated it as a result of the successful cooperation between SOCAR and Total. Emphasizing the effective relationship with major petroleum companies as ExxonMobil, bp, and Total, the guest stated the MoU with BHOS will become a new stage in the development of relations with SOCAR.

The French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier attended the event which discussed the various aspects of the education opportunities and personnel training.
