OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, has reinforced its partnership with the TCS Amsterdam Marathon today by signing a sponsor contract for the 8 kilometer run, which will henceforth be referred to as the “TCS 8K”. This investment comes as an extension to the company’s current title sponsorship of the full marathon. The additional partnership for the 8K track has been signed until 2015.

The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is the largest running event in the Netherlands with over 40,000 runners expected this year, including 7,000 of them in the 8K category. The marathon was awarded the prestigious IAAF Gold Label in 2013, joining a set of elite races that comprises New York, Paris, London, Boston and Berlin. The TCS 8K race, as well as this year’s full marathon, will have a unique new feature, as the new route will go through the new and just reopened Rijksmuseum via the bicycle tunnel.

By extending the sponsorship of the largest running event in the Netherlands, TCS has reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to the marathon as well as the official charity of the event – VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam. The previous year’s race, in which 1,200 of TCS’s clients and employees participated, raised a fund of €115,000 enabling VUmc CCA to expand their research capacity.

Amit Kapur, regional director and head (Benelux), TCS, said, "We are very pleased to extend our commitment to the TCS Amsterdam Marathon as the new title sponsor of the shorter 8K track. The TCS 8K is very inclusive and creates an opportunity for more runners, including aspiring runners and their families, to experience the event and contribute towards the wellness of society and cancer research.”

“We are proud that TCS has become the 8K title partner within the TCS Amsterdam Marathon" says Simone Richardson, director, Le Champion. "The 8K track gives an extra dimension to the event and allows families from the Netherlands and abroad to participate and run together. This is an important value that both Le Champion and TCS want to address.”
