OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2013. The Russian Telecom Equipment Company (RTEC), part of the State Corporation “Russian Technologies” (Rostec), has demonstrated its complex automated security system (CASS) developed for the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (FGS UES) to protects power objects at Sochi.  The Rio-2016 Organizing Committee in considering the possibility of using CASS for the preparation to Brazilian Olympics. 
 
The presentation took part in Sochi on the basis of the unified FGS UES command and control center.
 
CASS was developed to enhance security of objects and to integrate security systems and management automation solutions.  At present CASS integrates objects at four federal districts of Russia, including Olympic power objects in Sochi.
 
Brazilian team was interested by the concept of unified situation analysis operational and technological management.  According to Marcio Fortes de Almeida, president of the company that constructs Olympic objects for Rio-2016, this concept of management and continuous pre-operation control prove high professional level of Russian power specialists of the Federal Grid Company who can proactively forecast emergencies and eliminate incidents as fast as possible.
 
The Rio-2016 organizing committee was also interested by the system of supervisory control at Sochi PMES (local power supply company) and the electric power supply management center of the entire region.  Today the center is already supporting informational interaction between all objects supplying power to Sochi infrastructural and Olympic objects.  Through the use of decision support system, the center greatly accelerates data exchange between all entities involved in power supply of Olympic objects.  As a result, the center makes it possible to proactively prepare for any problems that might occur at power users and power suppliers of core and distribution level, and, which is most important, to cut the time of troubleshooting, as well as minimize the consequences of technological failures.
 
Summarizing the results of the visit, the parties noted that power supply systems of Sochi and Rio de Janeiro are very similar.  Therefore, experience of Russian power supply specialists can be very useful when preparing for the Brazilian Olympics.
