OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2013. Citibank announces the expansion of its Citi Express service to include Mosgortrans, the operator of Moscow’s public buses, trams and trolleybuses. Any Citibank credit card that is signed up for Citi Express can be used as a ticket card on any of these three types of transport. Prior to this Citi Express services only covered travel in the Moscow Metro, the city’s underground transit system.

The cover charge for using Citi Express services will remain the same at 65 rubles per month.

Citi Express services can be activated on any Citibank credit card, including bonus cards. Also, just as in the Moscow Metro, in order to pay for your trip you only need to briefly place the credit card against the reading device of the turnstile on the bus, tram or trolleybus.

Yuri Topunov, Credit Cards Business Director at Citibank, commented: "Citi Express is a convenient credit card option that saves the time and effort of our clients, the residents of such dynamically developing cities as Moscow. This service is particularly convenient for those who use public transport from time to time: they will always have on hand their credit card which also functions as a universal public transport ticket. We plan to expand our offering in this area and add new services to the Citi Express package in the future. We also hope that in offering such a service we will be making our own small contribution to reducing the traffic load on Moscow’s roads".

The cost of each trip is calculated according to the tariffs established by the transport operator. The number of trips is not limited. The total amount for trips taken is charged at the beginning of the following calendar month. The number of trips or total sum available for transport can be set in advance by the client through the internet banking system Citibank Online.

Clients can also use their Citibank credit cards to validate parking at the transit parking facilities of the Moscow Metro.
