Aegis Limited, a leading outsourcing and technology services company and part of the USD 39 billion conglomerate Essar, today announced that the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), the only bi-lateral chamber commerce, has honored Aegis Limited as the Overall Best Company in the United States of America (USA). This recognition was bestowed upon Aegis at the 9th Indo-American Corporate Excellence (I-ACE) awards held in Mumbai, India as a commemoration of the American Independence Day.

Aegis was also presented the award for the Best Indian Company in USA under the ‘Innovation’ category for its significant investment in customer experience management.

Mr Sandip Sen, Global CEO, Aegis Limited, accepted the award from Mr Prithviraj Chavan, Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India.  The chief guest at the event also included Mr Peter Haas, US Consul General, Mumbai, and Mr Dilip-Walse Patil, Speaker of the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly.

Currently Aegis employees include more than 5,000 Americans across nine centers in USA, serving some of the largest fortune 500 companies across North America in BFSI, telecom, healthcare, technology, travel and hospitality vertical. Aegis is pioneering the next generation of outsourcing by aligning its strategy of providing end user customer experience to its clients through a right-shoring model. In 2011, IACC acknowledged Aegis with the Best Indian Company in USA under ‘Technology and Communication’ category.

Through the I-ACE Awards, the Chamber celebrates corporate excellence and recognizes the Best US companies in India and Indian companies in the US. These awards were presented in a number of categories and the winners chosen from a pool of varied nominations received from US and India.

Mr Nanik Rupani, Regional President, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), said, “Our main aim is to promote trade and commerce between India and the United States and at the same time make our cultural bilateral ties stronger.”

On the occasion, Mr Peter Haas, US Consul General, Mumbai, said, “I think it is wonderful that hundreds of thousands of Americans can say proudly that they work for Indian companies and hundreds of thousands of Indians can say proudly that they work for American companies.” 

During the event Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India, Mr Prithviraj Chavan took the opportunity to mention that US and India share warm relations with one another and have several things in common apart from being the world’s largest democracies. Chief Minister Mr Chavan said, “If we work together I am sure it will help both the economies to get out of the current situations, to move forward, continue growing at the usual rates. India has been growing at a very substantial rate of growth of 8-9 percent, we want to get back to that level very soon and I’m sure working together will allow us to do that.”

With over 98% of its workforce employed in US being indigenous in nature, Aegis is adding to the job creation through the citizen serving citizen business model.
