OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2013. Moldova joined the Regional Arrangement on the Radiocommunication Service for Inland Waterways. The decision was approved by the cabinet.

The project was presented by Information Technology and Communication Minister Pavel Filip. He said that the joining of the above mentioned regional organisation by Moldova was dictated by the need to adjust to the joint principles and rules for the safe transportation of people and goods on the European inland waterways.

“The adjustment of services and radiocommunications at national level to the European standards will contribute to increasing the navigation security. Moreover, meeting the conditions will ensure a more efficient use of the radio spectrum, as well as a corresponding management of the river vessels for transporting goods and passengers,” he said.

According to the MTIC’s press service, the provisions of the regional arrangement will be used in the activity of the ministry and of the National Centre for Radio Frequencies in elaborating and approving the indicative signals of the naval radio stations, as well as in approving and notifying the frequencies of the board stations.

The regional arrangement was signed in April 2012 by 16 European countries, among which: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Romania and Hungary. The document is a regional technical agreement created on the basis of the International Telecommunication Regulation.

Also at the cabinet meeting, Pavel Filip was empowered to initiate negotiations on the draft technical arrangement between the National Authorities for Frequency Management from Turkey, Ukraine, Romania and other 12 countries as regards the cross border coordination for the e-communication systems of the 790-862 MHz and 2500 - 2690 MHz frequency bands.
