OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2013. Sviaz-Bank and FSUE Post of Russia have set up POS terminals incorporating contactless payment technology at 20 post offices in the central city of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Kazan is the starting point for a joint federal project to equip offices of the Post of Russia with terminals for contactless payment with cards supporting MasterCardPayPass® andVISAPayWave technologies.

Contactless plastic cards (or other devices, such as watches or mobile phones) of international payment systems can be used by waving them in front of a terminal, without keying in the PIN code or signing the receipt printout (for payments under 1,000 rubles), pay quickly for postal services and goods at post offices. “One touch” payment is reliably secured technologically. More security is added by the payer holding his card in his hand from beginning to end of a transaction.

“Post offices now can, with our assistance, accept the well-known magnetic strip and chip cards for payments to be made and the new contactless cards that are gaining fast in popularity,” said Olga Oleinik, Vice Chair of Sviaz-Bank’s Management Board. “Now, a purchase made will no longer put customers and cash register operators to the torture of counting bills and coins, nor will customers have to insert their cards into the terminal and sign receipts for purchases up to a thousand rubles in value. To complete a transaction, a customer will only have to touch a customized terminal with his or her card supporting the MasterCardPayPass andVISAPayWave technologies.”

“Innovative contactless technologies used to pay for goods and services at post offices have been produced through cooperation with international payment systems to modernize FSUE Post of Russia. Contactless terminals at post offices in Kazan are an entirely new level of services for our customers, and we are proud and pleased to provide our services to Kazan residents and numerous guests attending the Universiade to improve the quality of services and shorten lines at post offices,” said Vyacheslav Avdyukov, Financial Services Directorate Chief, FSUE Post of Russia.

“Paying for daily purchases with these innovative devices becomes still faster and simpler. Another advantage is that a MasterCardPayPasschip can be embedded, besides a plastic card, in a cellphone, wrist watch or other convenient devices.

This convenience gives entirely new advantages and opportunities to cardholders, banks, and points of sale. The introduction of MasterCardPayPasstechnologies at offices of the Post of Russia was a clause of the agreement between the MasterCard system and the Post of Russia, and we are glad that this project starts off in Kazan,” said Ilya Ryaby, Head of the MasterCard representative office in Russia.

The post offices equipped with POS terminals for contactless payments are located at the following addresses: The Kremlin, 73 Chistpolskaya Street, 56 Butlerov Street, 12 A.Kamaleyev, 182B Victory Avenue, 7 Tverskaya Street, 191 The Decembrists Street, 155 Shaturskaya Street, 138 RKB Orenburg Road, 2 Park Street, 140 Novoyudinskaya Street, 57 Zavokzalnaya Street, 39 Khimiki Street, 1Jaroslav Hasek Street, 28/70 Tovarishchevskaya Street, 22 Bolshaya Zarechnaya Street, 3 Zabaikalskaya Street, 14 Meridional Street, 8A Krayevaya Street, Bolshiye Derbyshki Township, and 16A Novaya Davlikeyevskaya Street, Mirny Township.
