The guests got acquainted with the progress of CHP reconstruction in Nizhnekamsk. The CHP joined the JSC TATNEFT Group of Companies on June 1, 2010. At present, the installed capacity of the CHP amounts to 1580 Gcal/h heat-wise and 380 MW in terms of the electric power.

The aim of the reconstruction being performed is increasing the installed electric power capacity to 730 MW. This will be achieved by installation of two bottom low-potential steam turbines with total power capacity of 220 MW and commissioning of the standby existing generating equipment of 130 MW capacity.

To date, near completion are the works on erecting the metal frame of the expanded part of the main building, which will allow in the near future installation of the overhead crane, as well as parts of the main and auxiliary equipment. In order to meet these challenges the works of arranging the turbine foundations are being sped up. According to the approved master plan the works are also being carried out at the construction site to remove the existing utilities from the construction area and to prepare foundation pits for a newly designed system of process water supply.

One of the priority directions of the Nizhnekamsk CHP development is now the option of using petroleum coke produced at the output of the delayed coking installation of the Nizhnekamsk Oil Refining and Petrochemical Plants Complex as fuel for Nizhnekamsk CHP power boilers. At the moment, the CHP experts together with JSC TATNEFT and JSC "TANECO" are involved in close considering the issue of selecting the coke burning technology and the boilers reconstruction option.

The Ministry of Energy representatives got acquainted with the full-scale system of commissioning operations at the construction site of the combined hydrocracking installation. Today the equipment is under trial running at the hydrogen production plant. 95 percent of the motors have been trial run already. Purging and flushing of 93 out of 122 circuits have been completed. Active works are underway on the individual testing of pipelines and installation of instrumentation and automation systems. The high pressure loop is being prepared for hydrostatic testing. All the works on erection of the equipment and pipelines are carried out under the close supervision of the Chevron licensor company representatives as well as the specialists of "TANECO".

The guests were demonstrated the work of the Central Control Room of the Nizhnekamsk Oil Refining and Petrochemical Plants Complex, advanced design solutions and modern equipment which allow for remote automated control of the already existing installations, as well as the equipment, which will be introduced in the next stages of the Project implementation.

At the facilities of NGDU "Almetyevneft" the guests toured a well equipped with the dual production installation. There are more than 1,200 such wells operating in the Company as of today. Application of this innovative technology has allowed to additionally produce over 5 million tons of crude oil.

The guests also got familiarized with the wells equipped with highly efficient chain drive units manufactured by the Bugulma Mechanical Plant of JSC TATNEFT, which allow adjusting the well operation mode. Technological and economic efficiency of the chain drive application is achieved through reducing the number of workover operations and electricity consumption saving.

Numerous issues were discussed during the meeting with participation of the Russian Federation Energy Ministry representatives in Nizhnekamsk, including the need to encourage processing of sour crude oil.

Kirill Molodtzov has highly appraised the experience of TATNEFT Company, gained in the implementation of large-scale investment projects, and stressed the need for its replication throughout the country.
