OREANDA-NEWS. The newly constituted Board of Directors of RUSNANO, meeting for the first time, elected Vladislav Putilin its chairmen in a unanimous vote. The composition of the board had been approved by the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) in order №822-r dated June 28, 2013.

The Board of Directors adopted changes to conditions for RUSNANO’s participation in an investment project for nanofabrication of aspherical optical elements. Changes arose from the co-investor’s failure to fulfill of terms of agreement for the project and the need to broaden the assortment of goods the company produces. As a result, RUSNANO will extend financing of up to 50 million rubles to the project. Investments will expand current production of interferometers, instruments for measuring and controlling the quality of optical elements, and enable the portfolio company to develop manufacturing complexes of precision machine tools and aspherical optics in collaboration with the largest Russian companies specializing in this area.

In compliance with an order from the Government of the Russian Federation, №2351-r dated December 13, 2012, the Board of Directors adopted changes in conditions for RUSNANO’s participation in a project for construction and operation of the European X-ray Free-Electron Laser (XFEL).

XFEL, a scientific research project undertaken by 12 countries, is in process in Hamburg, Germany. RUSNANO represents the interests of the Russian Federation in this project and provides financing on instructions from the government. When a deficit occurred in the project budget, country-participants agreed to increase their contributions. The Government of the Russian Federation increased its earlier planned investment of €250 million to €306.4 million (in 2005 euros). At present RUSNANO holds a 26.24 percent interest in European XFEL.

The Board of Directors also approved membership in the International Prize Award Committee for RUSNANOPRIZE, an annual award recognizing significant scientific-technological developments in nanotechnology globally. This year’s committee includes:

Anatoly Chubais, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board, RUSNANO (Russia)

Hideki Shirakawa, Nobel Prize winner, 2000; Professor emeritus, University of Tsukuba (Japan)

RUSNANOPRIZE is awarded jointly to the authors-inventors, scientists, and engineers-and the company that introduces the advance into commercial production of USD 10 million or greater annually. The award is given each year in one of several areas of nanotechnology. This year the committee will consider work in nanomaterials and modified surfaces. As in years past, the presentation of the 2013 RUSNANOPRIZE will take place during the RUSNANOTECH Nanotechnology International Forum, which is held annually in Moscow.

RUSNANOPRIZE was established by RUSNANO and the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs. Having won approval from the Board of Directors of RUSNANO, the list of proposed members of the International Prize Award Committee for RUSNANOPRIZE will be brought next to the Supervisory Council of the fund for its consideration.

During this regular meeting of the board, members set the number of participants in the Personnel and Compensation Committee under the Board of Directors of RUSNANO at three. Currently committee members are its chairman, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Alexander Torshin; deputy head of the Federal Agency for State Property Management Dmitry Pristanskov; and managing director of Human Resources, RUSNANO, Vladimir Repiev.

Finally, the Board of Directors approved changes in the policies on salary and compensation paid to members of the Audit and the Strategy Committees, both serving under the Board of Directors of RUSNANO.
