OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2013. Ukraine shows positive trends in the question of the signing the Association Agreement with the European Union. This was marked by the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule in an interview with Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.

"Ukraine can sign an association agreement in November, it depends on itself," said the commissioner. He noted that the EU Council clearly expressed its position on this matter in December: "The country must stop selective justice system, reform the electoral law and to demonstrate progress in implementing reforms to adapt to EU standards."

According to Stefan Fule Ukraine understands these requirements. According to him, Ukrainian politicians know where the country should move and want to integrate to the EU. Positive developments in this regard are already seen.

"I see a positive trend: Government understands the importance of the Association Agreement for the country," the Commissioner concluded.

Meanwhile, Stefan Fule said that the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union will not underestimate the role of Ukraine in the region, and vice versa it will strengthen the role of Ukraine and create more opportunities for cooperation with all its neighbors, including Russia.
