OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2013. Representatives of “Promoting Competition” Non-Commercial Partnership and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) held a meeting.

The main issues for discussion were a draft Federal Law “On Introducing Amendments to Article 178 of the Criminal Code and certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation” and draft amendments to the draft Federal Law “On Introducing Amendments to the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition””. The Head of FAS Igor Artemiev and the Head of FAS Legal Department, Sergey Puzurevsky highlighted the content of the main amendments proposed by the Antimonopoly Service, including those designed to implement the “Road Map” for developing competition and improving the antimonopoly law.

Participants discussed the efforts of the Working group of Promoting Competition” Non-Commercial Partnership on changing approaches to antimonopoly regulation in the field of unfair competition. Members of the Non-Commercial Partnership discussed possibility of applying the institutions of admonitions and warnings to some types of violations on advertising.

Representing the Non-Commercial Partnership, Nikolai Voznesensky made a report on antimonopoly enforcement in the field of intellectual property, where he outlined different opinions of Partnership embers on the issue.

“Following a proposal of the Non-Commercial Partnership, we are expanding the institutions of admonitions and warnings, extending them to other forms of abusing market dominance – anticompetitive actions of the authorities and unfair competition, except intellectual property”, pointed out the Head of FAS Legal Department, Sergey Puzurevsky.

“I suggest we should meet on a regular basis because discussing important issues in the form of meetings is more productive than coresponding”, emphasized the Head of FAS Igor Artemiev.
