OREANDA-NEWS. As part of its "We are breaking our fast in Anatolia" project, Calik Holding has been serving Iftar in Sanliurfa this year, throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Iftar of yesterday evening was attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Celik, the Governor of Sanliurfa Celalettin Giveni, the President of the Green Crescent (Yeiilay) Society Prof. Dr. M. ihsan Karaman and the Chairman of Calik Holding Ahmet Calik.

The Iftar table which was set in the courtyard of Prophet Eyyub Mosque, through the support of the Green Crescent Society and the Governor of Sanliurfa, hosted approximately 3 thousand local people. The citizens who have taken great interest in these meals, gathered at the tables hours before the time of the Iftar.

Minister Celik, who broke his fast with the local people shared the following: "I thank our fellow brother and businessman, Mr. Ahmet Calik on behalf our brothers and sisters of Sanliurfa, for having provided the means for our citizens in Sanliurfa to break their fasts, for the duration of this month, in this area remembered for spiritual patience. The month of Ramadan is the month of mercy, the month of abundance, the month of brotherhood. Yet, we can't forget that what is happening in the neighboring country of Syria, is unfortunately disturbing all of our hearts. What is occurring in Egypt is also deeply disquieting. While no guns spoke, even in the times of ignorance, the fact that blood is being spilled in the Islamic world, in this supposedly advanced contemporary society, is truly deeply saddening".

The Governor of Sanliurfa Celalettin Guveni, expressed that the existence of this service in Sanliurfa is truly heart-warming and continued by sharing that: "Sanliurfa is a city that is growing and developing. It is a city that has deep historical riches in the areas of belief and cultural tourism as well as commerce. It is our aim to continually carry our city forward, by collectively protecting it and by enabling it to always be honored for enriching activities. I wish to thank Calik Holding, and all others who had a hand in making this gathering possible".

As for the Chairman of Calik Holding, Ahmet Calik, he expressed that the Iftar ceremonies during Ramadan are a unique source of beauty and excitement. He continued by adding: "We thought that the spiritual attributes that enlivened during Ramadan offered an opportunity by which we could contribute to the peaceful ambiance of our country. It is due to this that we brought our Anatolian meal program to Sanliurfa this year, to support the unity and solidarity in this region, just as we served our meals in the Ercii district of the city of Van last year, after it had fallen victim to the disastrous earthquake. Prophet Eyyub (Job), for whom this mosque has been named, was a prophet who gained fame and respect for his patience. Similarly, I believe that patience, unity and solidarity, are the greatest needs of our country in this upcoming period. As businessmen, we too would like to strive to contribute to this, during Ramadan".

The President of the Green Crescent Society, Prof. Dr. M. Ihsan Karaman, on the other hand, expressed that: "The month of Ramadan is a period in which spiritual blessings such as abundance, assistance and cooperation, and sharing should reach their highest level. Furthermore, Ramadan teaches one to not be trapped by bad habits and to overcome difficulties through ones willpower. I thank the Governor of Sanliurfa, who has contributed greatly to enabling these tables to be set through the collaboration between Calik Holding and the Green Crescent Society – hosting more than 1000 people per day. I hope that services like these being provided for those in need, on occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, will be exemplary, and hope that the number of organizations and companies, that showcase such services, increases in our country".
