OREANDA-NEWS. NTT DOCOMO, INC., a personalized mobile solutions provider for smarter living, announced that subscribers to XiTM (pronounced "crossy"), the company's extra-high-speed LTE mobile service offering a maximum downlink of 112.5 Mbps, surpassed 15 million on July 30.

Subscriptions to Xi have been growing rapidly since its launch as one of the world's first commercial LTE services on December 24, 2010. Subscribers reached one million in December 2011, 10 million in February this year and now, just five months later, 15 million.

Recent growth has been supported by successful promotions for the new summer lineup, including special discounts introduced in May for the extra-popular XperiaTM A SO-04E and GALAXY S4 SC-04E models.

DOCOMO continues to enhance connectivity and data transmission speed on its LTE network. A commercial 150 Mbps downlink service is expected to be launched in parts of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya this October. Selected handsets compatible with the service will be introduced from the same month.

Going forward, DOCOMO is determined to further strengthen customer satisfaction with an extensive lineup of Xi devices and increasingly extra-high-speed services.
