OREANDA-NEWS. NTT DATA Corporation’s Flight Procedure Design System “PANADES®” was given for the “Project for the Modernization of Equipment for Transition to New CNS/ATM System in the Lao PDR” tender run as part of free financial aid provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (hereafter, JICA) to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The system will be used as one type of equipment that this project is comprised of.

The system is planned to be set up and installed at local sites in Lao PDR, with operation expected to begin in February 2015.

This contract will mark the fourth county that “PANADES” has been installed at overseas after Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

While there has been an annual increase in air traffic in recent years, particularly in Southeast Asian countries aging equipment used for aviation safety has resulted in calls for greater maintenance of facilities and equipment required for the safe operation of aircraft. JICA has been working on ODA projects related to aviation in Southeast Asian countries, and is providing free financial aid to Lao PDR in the form of the “Project for the Modernization of Equipment for Transition to New CNS/ATM Systems” for the transition to next-generation aviation safety systems. The project provides support for the transition to next-generation aviation safety systems with the aim of increasing the safety of air traffic control and expanding the number of flight routes available.
