OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 76% of the services fell on outbound tourism. In January-June 2013 5,380 foreign tourist visited Moldova via travel agencies, 6.1% up as compared with the same period of the past year. Most of them came to Moldova from Romania (15.6%); Russia (10%), Germany and Poland (6.6% each), Ukraine (6.2%), Italy (5%), the USA (4.8%), Austria (4.4%), France (4%) and other countries.

About 47.6% of foreign tourists were in Moldova on business, 44.3% visited our country for holidays and 3.5% came for cure. In the first half-year of 2013, 61.47 thousand of Moldovan tourist left Moldova via travel agencies, 4.4% up as compared with the same period of the last year. Over 96% of them travelled for holidays.

The most popular destinations in the reporting period were Bulgaria (33.9%), Turkey (32.9%), Romania (11.7%), Greece (5.9%), Ukraine (3.7%), Egypt (2.2%), UAE (1.2%) and Austria. A number of internal tourists decreased 10.6% as compared with the like period of 2012 and made up 14,000.

Most internal excursions were organized by travel agencies and tour operators of Chisinau ((34.8%), and regions of development Centre (32.3%) and South (25%).
