OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2013. Online internet festival of national domain UZ has kicked off in Tashkent. It is organized by the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation, "Kelajak ovozi" Center of Youth Initiatives and "UZINFOCOM" Center for Development and introduction of computer and information technologies with the support of the State Committee for Communications, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Under the leadership of President Islam Karimov large-scale works on transformations in information sphere, including for the availability of Internet to the general public, has been undertaken. Adoption of the comprehensive national program for information and communication system of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2013-2020, which was approved by decree of the President of the country dated June 27, 2013 is a vivid example of this.

This year's festival will be held from August 13 to September 23. It aims to promote the Internet among the general population, assist in the development of national content and scope of the Uzbek language web-sites in the global information network.

A website, operating for the entire period of the festival and registered in the UZ. Domain, can take part in the festival. Nomination for the competition can be made by the jury, the owner of the site, and any person, registered on the official website of the festival www.if.uz. The deadline for enrollment is 10 September 2013.

The competition program of the festival includes 10 thematic and 2 special categories. The program includes a special award from the national search engine WWW.UZ for participants in each of the 10 thematic nominations. 10 web-sites, having scored for a specific period the largest largest number of hosts in each thematic category will be announced winners.

According to the organizers of the festival, the awarding ceremony will be held in Tashkent on September 23 at the Palace of Youth Creativity on the first day of the traditional annual Week of Information and Communication Technology "InfoCOM-2013."
