OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Projects Ltd, an engineering procurement construction (EPC) services provider for the infrastructure sector, is gearing up to focus on public, private partnership and build, own and transfer mode projects.

The company, which traditionally focuses on EPC services for power, power transmission and oil and gas, is also set to enter into urban infrastructure services including metro rail projects, water management and special economic zones, according to Manzoor Ameen, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Projects Ltd.

Addressing a media gathering on Thursday, he said the company has achieved a compounded annual growth rate of 25 per cent over the years - it had revenues of Rs 4,000 crore in 2012-13. “We believe it is time to focus on some of the new sectors, such as urban infrastructure and also on PPP and BOT projects. This will help us scale up and broaden the scope of business,” he said.

“We are a debt-free company and now command an order book of Rs 15,000 crore to be executed over the next 24-30 months. At a time when infrastructure is passing through a tough phase, it is time to gear up and prepare for the next major growth wave,” he said.

The company is looking at urban infrastructure as a major business opportunity in the years to come. Within urban infrastructure, water management and transportation, such as metro rail projects, offered immense scope, he said.

Part of the Tata Group, the company is currently executing orders in the power sector for the 2x800 MW AP Genco project at Krishnapatnam and the 2x500 MW project for Mahenco, among others.

The company has bagged a dedicated freight corridor project worth Rs 3,400 crore through the international competitive bidding process. This involves a 337-km double track line and a 14-km single track line between Bhaupur and Khurja in Uttar Pradesh.

“While the order flow has been good, the focus now is on accelerating and multiplying business based on the strong platform we have created over the years. This could even mean building partnerships such as the one we made for the Kochi metro project with a UK-based company,” he said.
