OREANDA-NEWS.   During a working visit to Tatarstan, Maksim Sokolov, Russia’s Minister of Transport, arrived at KAMAZ at the last weekend.

Mr. Sokolov arrived in Naberezhnye Chelny together with Sergey Khramagin, Director General of OJSC State transport leasing company. The guests were accompanied by Lenar Safin, Tatarstan’s Minister of Transport and Roads.

Accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ, the delegation visited the Automobile Plant to see a cab assembly conveyor and the main assembly line, and then the company’s Research and Development Center. The guests were shown an experimental base and a KAMAZ exhibition there. The exhibits included KAMAZ-65117, KAMAZ-43118, a bus with a Daimler engine, a KAMAZ-53605 chassis, a KAMAZ-65116-34 prime mover, a KAMAZ-6520-35 dump truck, a garbage truck and other vehicles. After the tour of the R&D Center, the delegation met with members of the KAMAZ-master team and saw samples of legendary KAMAZ racing vehicles. Besides, the guests were given an opportunity to test bolster-type tractors and all-wheel drive tractors, KAMAZ vehicles of the Mustang line (Models 4350, 5350, 6350), and also to drive a new KAMAZ-5490 vehicle. It should be recalled that the serial production of this long-haul tractor developed in cooperation with the German concern Daimler will be launched by KAMAZ this September. This model will help increase the company’s share in the segment of long-haul tractors from 2-5% to 25%. The KAMAZ-5490 prime mover will be equipped with an engine by Mercedes-Benz, a gearbox by ZF, a cab by Axor, axles by Daimler.

After visiting KAMAZ’s facilities, Maksim Sokolov highly assessed the level of the Kama automobile plant and its products, noted positive moments in the work of the enterprise. His visit was crowned with business negotiations with the company’s top managers.
