OREANDA-NEWS. A milestone for vocational training in Weinviertel: OMV, Austria's leading industrial company, and TUV AUSTRIA have committed to a partnership for apprentice training. This will complement the top training which OMV apprentices already receive, providing an even broader basis and will also be open to other companies. This marks a decisive advance in education and will serve as a driver for economic growth in the Weinviertel region.

OMV and TUV AUSTRIA have agreed to open a new education center for vocational apprentice training. The new education center will be based at the OMV site in Ganserndorf under the name TUV AUSTRIA-OMV AKADEMIE WEINVIERTEL. This cooperation will enable both partners to capitalize on their strengths. The direct mix of OMV?s practical skills gained through international operations and the technical expertise of TUV AUSTRIA results in perfect synergies for “Training near the job” at the TUV AUSTRIA-OMV AKADEMIE. The ability to quickly and flexibly adapt the educational focus to the skills that are needed on the job is a key success factor in vocational training.

The TUV AUSTRIA-OMV AKADEMIE WEINVIERTEL will train more than 100 apprentices; 37 new apprentices will start their careers at OMV on September 2, 2013. One new feature is that other companies will now be able to take advantage of this vocational training; the academy is therefore not just a center of excellence for future OMV employees - this year eight apprentices from companies in other sectors will benefit from the expertise and practical approach to education. The academy has six fully equipped seminar rooms, a mechanical workshop, an industrial landscape, a gas chromatography suite and a measurement laboratory, two electrical laboratories, a chemistry laboratory, a process engineering suite and a technical isolation suite with control room. All facilities conform to the state-of-the-art requirements of a trailblazing education center, particularly in the areas of automation technology and process control engineering, systems and industrial engineering, as well as chemical process technology and training chemical lab technicians.
