OREANDA-NEWS.  SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev received the Afghan delegation led by Afghanistan's Mines and Petroleum Minister Wahidullah Shahrani.

 Welcoming the guests, Mr. Abdullayev expressed his pleasure at seeing the members of Afghan delegation in Baku, said such meetings play an important role in the development of relations between the two countries. According to him, the first production of industrial oil from the dug wells belongs to the ancient land of oil - Azerbaijan. SOCAR President emphasized an important contribution of Azeri oil workers to the history of the world industry. He spoke about the regional and international projects of SOCAR, its achievements, operation fields, domestic and foreign assets.

Expressing his gratitude for the meeting, Afghanistan's Mines and Petroleum Minister Wahidullah Shahrani mentioned the significant role of oil and gas industry in the rapid development of the country in recent years, successful operations of SOCAR in the country and abroad, and highly appreciated its reputation as a reliable partner. The Minister presented delegation members to SOCAR President. The guest spoke about rich petroleum and gas resource of Afghanistan, its latest cooperation activities with the international companies and expressed his country’s interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Mr. Abdullayev stated that Azerbaijan was considered the world's oil academy for centuries and mentioned the tradition of training Afghan oil experts in the country.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
