OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2013. According to the latest figures, in August 2013 the Russian Railways' infrastructure transported 101.3 m passengers, 2.7% more than in August 2012. Suburban commuters amounted to 88.5 m (+4.2%), while long-distance passenger numbers fell to 12.8 m (-6.8%).

Passenger turnover in August 2013 amounted to 17.5 bn passenger-kilometres, 7% less than in August 2012.

In January-August 2013, the Russian Railways' network carried 732 m passengers, an increase of 4.7% compared to January-August 2012. Long-distance passenger numbers totalled 77 m (-4.1%) and suburban commuters 655 m (+ 5.8%).

Passenger turnover on Russian Railways' infrastructure since the beginning of 2013 fell by 3.2% compared to last year and amounted to 96.7 bn passenger-kilometres.
