OREANDA-NEWS. Pavel Medvedev was appointed Financial Ombudsman when Russia introduced the office in February 2012. Today, some 18 months later, he is back working as public mediator on the financial services market.

Uniastrum was instrumental in setting up a financial ombudsman institution tasked with settling disputes on Russia's financial services market and also one of its first participants. The Bank's contribution was acknowledged with a special certificate presented to Uniastrum at the annual meeting of the Financial Ombudsman Scientific Advisory Council.

“Uniastrum supports and recognizes the importance of the Financial Ombudsman's work,” says Yulia Solonenko, head of the Bank's Legal Department. “The creation of this institution in 2010 marked a major step for banks and other financial organizations, as well as for consumers. The existence of a public mediator indicates just how much the Russian financial services market has matured and testifies to the responsible attitude that banks have toward their customers.”
