OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. Custom authorities of Ukraine in cooperation with custom authorities of the Russian Federation and relevant experts of Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia will develop effective cooperation mechanisms to address an issue of passage of goods across the custom border of Ukraine and the Customs Union in the case of Ukraine sign an agreement on association and the free trade area with the EU.

This was started by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko in an interview with 5 Channel.

According to him, the Russian side expressed its concern as to whether or not to take place duty-free passage of goods from the EU transit through Ukraine to the territory of the Customs Union in the case of Ukraine sign an agreement on the FTA with the EU in terms of the functioning of the agreement on free trade area with CIS countries.

"We are working out between the custom authorities of our country and Russia, all countries of the Customs Union a mechanism to avoid this. We’ve propose quite clear and effective steps to ensure that it will not be," Vice Prime Minister said.

Another important issue of relations between Ukraine and the Customs Union, according to Yuriy Boyko, is the issue of harmonization of technical regulations and requirements for product quality.

"It is important issue and commission led by Government’s Representative in the Eurasian Economic Commission operates, which fulfills the compatibility of our regulations to technical regulations of the Customs Union," Yuriy Boyko said.

Vice Prime Minister expressed confidence in the continuation of effective mutual cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation and the Customs Union countries after the Vilnius summit, which to be held in November this year.

"At a meeting of Ukrainian and Russian Prime Ministers had been expressed the common view that in November life does not end of and that we must continue to cooperate in the field of economic policy," Yuriy Boyko said.
