OREANDA-NEWS.  September 12, 2013. The national pharmaseutic branch can become a locomotive for the growth of national economy of Ukraine. The head of the State Service of Medical Means Olexiy Solovyov announced.

“Over the recent 3 years significant attention paid by the President of Ukraine and Government to the national pharmaceutical branch has facilitated growing of its economic potential. Presently there exist all objective and subjective prerequisites that prove that the national pharmacy can become a driving force for the economic boost of Ukraine,” Olexiy Solovyov emphasized.

According to the head of the State Service of Medical Means, this is proved by significant speed of growth of volumes of realization of goods on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine; increase of share of the national production on the domestic market (from 28% in 2010 to 31.4% in 2013); growth of export of the national pharmacy (by 25% in 2012 as compared to 2011).

Another proof of development of the branch appears functioning on the territory of Ukraine over 100 pharmaceutical enterprises that manufacture products in compliance with the European standards and a well-developed network of 20 thousand drug-stores.

Moreover, control over the quality of medicines is being intensified. From the early 2013 the consumers were prevented to use 663 thousand of packs of dangerous to life and health medical means of improper quality to the tune of UAH 19.8 mln.

“Owing to the complex re-equipment of laboratories for quality control and introduction in the national legislation of more strict European standards the number of non-admitted to the consumers low-quality medicines has grown tenfold,” Olexiy Solovyov explianed.

According to the head of the State Service of Medical Means, only those medicines are afforded to get to the domestic market of Ukraine that have compliance of production with the GMP requirements from inspectorates of PIC/S countries. Hence, in the interests of patients products of unguaranteed quality never get to the internal market.

Moreover, he added that the State Service of Medical Means had started consultations with the European Commission concerning mutual recognition of results of inspections and controls with the EU.
