OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ is completing construction-and-assembling operations and equipment of a conveyor to assemble a new cabin for the KAMAZ-5490 long-haul tractor.

In order to check the equipment and, if necessary, modernize it, the workers of the new conveyor will assemble one vehicle a day. According to Albert Vizinger, Axor Project Manager, they had managed to prepare 10.5 thousand square meters of KAMAZ’s production space for five months by the launch of cabin production. An advantage of the new Axor cab is much simpler interior assembly in comparison with a serial cabin of a KAMAZ truck, which makes the assemblers’ task much easier.

The new KAMAZ vehicle is a “premium” product on the market of trucks, therefore it was important to train the company’s specialists in compliance with new requirements. According to Mr. Vizinger, more than 60 KAMAZ employees had received training at Daimler factories. The training was organized in such areas as vehicle assembly, logistics, quality control, and also cab production scheduling.

The new KAMAZ vehicles will be fundamentally different from previous models, but at the same time they will still be recognizable on roads: the heavy trucks will have the KAMAZ logo and the same painting as production vehicles of KAMAZ. From the third half year 2014, customers will be offered a much wider range of colors.
