OREANDA-NEWS. Total and Peugeot are unveiling their technology demonstrator, the Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE, at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show*. The concept car combines low carbon dioxide emissions (49 grams per kilometer, or the equivalent of fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers) with sporty performance (acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just eight seconds).

The purpose of the demonstrator is to test innovative solutions to improve fuel efficiency that could later be transferred to mass-produced vehicles.

To meet the dual “FE” challenge of building a Fun & Efficient model that also delivers excellent Fuel Economy, Total and Peugeot focused on two main areas:

Reduced engine and component friction and optimized combustion with the help of Total Lubricants and Total Additives and Special Fluids.

Weight-saving with the assistance of Total Petrochemicals, CCP Composites and Hutchinson, using lighter plastics, bio-sourced resins and composite leaf springs.
