OREANDA-NEWS. Around 400 young people will be starting their apprenticeships this year in 14 E.ON companies throughout Germany. They are being trained for very different professions, for example, as electronics technicians, industrial mechanics, industrial clerks or office communications clerks. At present, some 1,800 apprentices are learning for their future careers at E.ON in Germany. Moreover, under cooperation agreements, E.ON trains 400 other apprentices from companies which do not belong to the E.ON Group.

An apprenticeship at E.ON lasts between two and three and a half years, depending on the type of training. For example, E.ON offers young people with university entrance qualifications or an advanced technical college certificate the opportunity to study for a degree parallel to their apprenticeship, which then already ends after two years. By contrast, the vocational training of the industrial apprentices generally runs for three to three and a half years.

Traditionally, vocational training is very important at E.ON, out of a sense of both corporate and social responsibility. As one of the world's largest private-sector power and gas companies, E.ON offers young people outstanding training possibilities and, in this way, invests in the future of the company. Apprentices make an important contribution towards securing the future viability of the company, especially in these times of demographic change.
