OREANDA-NEWS. Under the container traffic expansion programme implemented by FESCO Transportation Group, cargo handling equipment fleet of Commercial Port of Vladivostok was added by new Kalmar terminal tractors.

Currently the port took delivery of 6 all-wheel-drive tractors, two more tractors are slated to be delivered by the end of September. Kalmar tractors are designed to efficiently and effectively handle 20-ft and 40-ft containers at the port area. In addition to excellent performance characteristics, the ergonomically-designed comfortable cabins make it possible for drivers to enjoy panoramic view of operations, expedite the transportation of containers between accumulation sections and points of loading/unloading, as well as improve safety standards of cargo handling operations. The implementation of this programme results in enhancing and growing container handling capacity at the port. This August Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 43, 203 TEUs, representing 9.5% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year. During July-August, 2013 the number of container block trains dispatched from the port to the European part of the RF totaled 98 units, up 32% over the same period last year.
