OREANDA-NEWS. Casting-Rolling Complex (CRC, a branch of JSC OMK-Stal, Vyksa District, Nizhny Novgorod Region, a part of United Metallurgical Company, CJSC OMK) has launched a new production unit specifically for the manufacture of scrap mental. With the unit's new equipment, CRC has produced its first batch of 2Ash scrap metal, coming in at 4,500 tonnes.

The production unit from Metso Lindemann, GmbH (Germany) is used for high-tech processing of scrap metal through fragmentation and refinery of non-ferrous impurities. The new unit has the capacity to produce one million tonnes of fragmented scrap a year. So far, 1.8 billion rubles have been invested in the program.

The new equipment will enable CRC to optimize expenses for scrap purchase and improve the quality of raw material. Deep recycling and use of special technologies for scrap grading, cleaning, and removing non-ferrous impurities will enable the company to manufacture higher quality products.

“Casting-Rolling Complex provides the pipe-production division of Vyksa Steel Works with hot-rolled coil. A superior metal supply will enable OMK to increase the quality of oil and gas production and line pipes, which will consequently, increase the company's competitive advantage on the market,” said OMK President Vladimir Markin.
