OREANDA-NEWS. MPX Energia announces that a change to its corporate denomination to ENEVA S.A. was approved at an Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting held today, Wednesday, September 11.

The name ENEVA is formed by the letter “E”, standing for “energy”, combined to the word “NEVA”, which alludes to “new” or “nova” in Portuguese. It represents a new source of energy in the continuous search for innovative and transforming solutions.

The name change reflects the new phase ENEVA has entered, which since May 2013, has its controlling interest shared by E.ON and Eike Batista under provisions of the shareholders agreement in effect. At that time, E.ON acquired 24.5% of ENEVA shares owned by the entrepreneur, thus reaching a 36.2% stake in ENEVA capital. As one of the controlling shareholders E.ON will significantly support the company in becoming a key player in the Brazilian energy, actively contributing to the management and project implementation.

ENEVA starts its history with assets that add up to 1,780 MW of installed capacity, in the states of Maranhao, Ceara and Amapa, and additional 1,100 MW under construction, which place it among the largest private sector power generation companies in Brazil.

“The creation of ENEVA confirms our position as an operational company that contributes to reliable power supply in Brazil. In this new stage, we will make the most of our success DNA, and side by side with our strategic partner we will further improve it to take the company's successful performance forward”, said Eduardo Karrer, ENEVA CEO.

“The change of name is also a symbol for the significant corporate restructuring which we currently conduct. It shall motivate all of us to face the challenges and make the most of the opportunities the future brings for us. There is in Brazil a significant energy demand, and ENEVA wishes to make a relevant contribution to the sustainable growth for the country”, added Frank Possmeier, ENEVA Deputy CEO. The brand concept In its core ENEVA brings together the Brazilian power of achievement and the advanced technology of a global energy specialist.

The ENEVA visual identity brings together the elements of corporate businesses. The colors represent the different types of energy: the red stands for thermal energy; yellow for solar energy; and the blue represents wind and hydro energies, which together symbolize the energy matrix diversification and sustainability, giving rise to a new star in the sector.
