OREANDA-NEWS. On September 18, the United Metallurgical Company (CJSC OMK, Moscow) held a ceremonial opening of the parterre zone of the restored Batashevs-Shepelevs' Park and Industrial Complex. The Batashevs-Shepelevs were the founders of Vyksa Steel Works (JSC VSW, Vyksa, a part of OMK).

During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMK, Anatoly Sedykh, and OMK President Vladimir Markin, together with representatives of the Department of Russia's Ministry of Culture in the Volga Federal District and Vyksa Municipal Government, officially unveiled the “Seasons” sculpture in the parterre basin of Batashevs-Shepelevs' park. Additionally, event guests were shown the new hallways of the VSW History Museum which is located on the building's first floor.

Addressing the ceremony's guests, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMK, Anatoly Sedykh, said, “It is equally important for a person both which company he/she works for as well as which city he/she lives in. If there are cultural centers, museums, parks, and art and music schools in the city, the everyday lives of its citizens will be brighter and more interesting. In this respect, we hope to get all possible support from the local authorities as only together can we create a truly comfortable environment in this city. In return, we will continue restoring and developing objects vital to preserving Vyksa's cultural heritage through the available funding avenues.”

By now, OMK has allocated over 420 milion rubles for restoration of the Batashevs-Shepelevs' main park house, the park's parterre zone, as well as for other objects in Vyksa's historical center that are nationally important.

“Once again, OMK helps us look at Vyksa from the viewpoint of its rich historical past. It is one of the grounds for further development of our cuty, our pride, and formula for future success,” said Igor Raev, head of Vyksa city government.
