OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2013. Gagauzia Bashkan (Governor) Mikhail Formuzal is going to pay a visit to Moscow in order to hand over a solicitation for opening a Russian Wine Certification Center in the autonomy.

According to the official website of the Gagauz Autonomy, Mikhail Formuzal made this statement at a working meeting of Gagauzia Executive Committee on Monday. He said that within the frameworks of this visit, he will meet lawmakers of the Russian State Duma, as well as the leadership of RosPotrebNadzor [Russian federal supervisory agency for consumer goods quality].

"We are ready to purchase any needed equipment. We are fully open – the Russian partners will be able to see the entire wine-making process, from establishing of vineyards, to harvesting, processing, and bottling processes. This task should be solved in a way that will allow reducing, to a maximum possible extent, the damages incurred by wine-makers after the imposed embargo and that will help Gagauz producers work in normal conditions," thinks the bashkan.

He is also apprehensive about the fact that it may take a long time for the wine-making sector in the autonomy and in the entire country, to recover after the current embargo imposed by RosPotrebNadzor.

"We planted new vineyards, we also grew technical and table grapes, and now, we don’t know how to sell out our production. I should hardly think that the Western countries are waiting for Gagauz grapes," he said.
