OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2013. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a working meeting with Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets.

A draft decree regulating taxation, re-evaluation of property and the collection of rent for state-owned land plots was in the center of attention. The President was interested in whether the document contained any excessive preferences, exceptions and things like that. “It is a popular belief these days that we should support businessmen, give them preferences, as if they are the poorest ones. Yes, we should support them but in civilized ways”.

“New things are always good if our lives need them. If not, maybe we shouldn't rush after these novelties?” added Alexander Lukashenko.

The Finance Minister said that since the land tax, which is collected within the framework of the Tax Code, is similar to land rent fees in its nature, the composition of payers, deadlines and sums of collected fees, there are plans to enable uniform approaches to their collection. “No new preferences will be introduced,” specified Andrei Kharkovets.

The head of state approved of the decision and the relevant decree will be signed soon.
