OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank CIB, the corporate and investment banking unit of Sberbank of Russia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sascha Prinz as Head of Rates, Managing Director, in its FICC Division, Global Markets Department. Sascha joins in September 2013 and will be based in Moscow, reporting to Maxim Safonov, Head of Global Markets Department, Managing Director.

Sascha joins Sberbank CIB from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he held the position of Head of USD Rates Trading for EMEA and Asia, with responsibility for a team in London and Tokyo trading U.S. treasuries and swaps. He brings nearly two decades of experience in the fixed income arena, based across the U.S., Asian and European markets. Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Sascha worked for Mitsubishi UFJ Securities and held the positions of European Head of Rates Trading and Head of USD Rates Trading for EMEA and Asia where he built up the European rates business as a part of the bank's efforts to bolster its international fixed income business. He previously spent 14 years at UBS, which culminated in his role as Global Co-head of Rates and Head of Fixed Income for EMEA. As Global Co-head of Rates, he was responsible for more than 230 people globally, including the sales and trading businesses. He was also a Member of the Board of UBS Investment Bank.

This appointment is the latest in a number of senior hires at Sberbank CIB this year, with a particular focus on the Global Markets Department. Its team has recently added a number of Managing Directors including Francois Mantion as Head of Commodity Trading, Raymond Bird as Head of Strategic Equity Financing, GM Trading and Steven Weller as Head of FX Trading.
