OREANDA-NEWS.  September 26, 2013. This was spoken about at a meeting between Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Vasile Bumacov and representatives of wineries and alcohol export companies at which the course of the grapes gathering and processing was discussed. The gathering started as early as in late August.

The white table and wine grapes were first being gathered. White table grapes are sold at 8 to 10 lei per kilo, white wine grapes being bought by wineries at 3.5 to 4.5 lei per kilo. Last week, red grapes vintage started. Red wine grapes are sold at 3.5 lei per kilo.

Such a price is explained by the fact that the demand for red grapes is expected to be less than the last-year one because there has been a lot of red wine left at domestic wineries. Nevertheless, all the red grapes collected this year are going to be processed.

Specialists of the Agriculture Ministry and various associations of winemakers recommend selling fresh Moldova, the well-known grape variety, at 7 to 8 lei per kilo. If not asked for in retail chains, it is advised to be processed at a price of 2 lei per kilo.
