According to the report, 48.9 % of the respondents spend money transfers for the purchase of housing, 38.4 % - for the household appliances, 18.2 % - for education of children, 17.5 % - for health services , 8.9% - for the purchase of vehicle , 8.4 % - for the purchase of pets or farm equipment , 6.5 % - for the payment of debts , etc.

At the same time, only 2% are going to invest in their own business or community development projects. The study also showed that about 76 % of all migrant workers send money to Moldova and others save it. About one third of all respondents informed that remittances account for more than 75 % of the family income, quarter - 50-75 % and others - up to 50 %. 43% of migrants send money once or twice a month, about 25 % of them - once in two months and 23.5% - once in three months or less often.

The average amount of one transfer is about 4 thousand lei. The survey was conducted in 2011 in Orhei, Soldanesti, Rezina and Telenesti regions among 1.1 million people older than 18 years. Possible error is + - 3%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2011 the volume of remittances to Moldova amounted to \\$ 1 billion 453.79 million (30.3% of GDP).
