OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2013. The First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov has held a meeting with a Member of Standing Committee of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee Liu Yunshan during a working visit to China.

The sides discussed topical issues of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation in the political, trade and economic, scientific and technical and humanitarian spheres.

Serhiy Arbuzov noted substantial intensification of the whole complex relationships in the past few years. "Thanks to the joint efforts, today a solid foundation is laid and the necessary conditions are created for the further development of directions of Ukrainian-Chinese strategic partnership," he said.

According to the First vice Prime Minister, the President of Ukraine and the Government pays special attention to the development of foreign economic relations with China. "The results of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries indicate the stability and the mutual benefit of the Ukrainian-Chinese relations," he added.

Serhiy Arbuzov confirmed Ukraine's interest in attracting strong investment potential and the latest production technology of China. "We also look forward to the access of Ukrainian goods, services and technologies into the vast Chinese market," he stressed.

During the meeting Serhiy Arbuzov also noted the positive dynamics of development of Ukrainian-Chinese cultural relations: "More and more Ukrainian students want to study in Chinese universities. Over the past three years, their number has grown to more than in two times."

Speaking about active cooperation in the field of education, the First vice Prime Minister highly appreciated the positive experience of the First Meeting of the sectional Sub-commission  on cooperation in education in 2012 and the signing of an updated interagency agreement, which will increase the number of mutual scholarships for students in four times.

In addition, Serhiy Arbuzov drew the attention of the Member of Standing Committee of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee Liu Yunshan on the enormous growth of interest in China, learning Chinese language and literature in Ukraine. In this regard, he welcomed the opening of fifth Confucius Institute in Ukraine at the Kiev National Linguistic University.
