OREANDA-NEWS. The representatives of China Post and Commercial Management Department of Harbin made a business visit to NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport.

Having inspected the technical abilities of the airport's cargo complex and the future International Postal Exchange office, the Head of Heilongjiang post station Zhang SHAOLUN expressed his high opinion of the facility's equipment as well as the open interest of Novosibirsk airport and Russian Post on partnership development with the foreign postal administrations.

According to Mr. Shaolun, starting from the third decade of November 2013, China Post expects to deliver postal items on direct regular Harbin - Novosibirsk flights. The initial capacity will amount 10 tons per week, thus, allowing to expedite delivery of parcels from China to Siberia.

Worth mentioning, by the end of March in 2013, the agreement concerning partial redirection of incoming mail directly to Novosibirsk (with zip-sorting to the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts) was reached between Russian Post and China Post aimed to optimize workload of the Moscow Air Hub as well as to reduce delivery time to addressees.

2,000 m2 of terminal space is now available and already equipped to process international postal items from South East Asia. Total investment made up about 1.5 mln USD.

The decision to choose NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport as a postal logistics center able to cover requirements of the Siberian region was determined by availability of the necessary infrastructure as well as its favorable geographical location: it is the largest international airport in Russia east of the Urals positioned at the intersection of many air transit routes connecting South East Asia and China with Europe and North America.
