OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2013. On the first day of the traditional annual “InfoCOM- 2013” Information and Communication Technologies Week the results of the .Uz national domain Internet Festival were summed up in Tashkent.

The Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation, Kelajak ovozi Center of Youth Initiatives and UZINFOCOM Center for Development and introduction of computer and information technologies with the support of the State Committee for Communications, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan have acted as the organizers of the internet festival.

Conducted under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, large-scale transformation in the information area of our country contributes to the further development and widespread adoption of ICT in all industries and fields. Adoption of the program of development of telecommunication technologies, networks and communications infrastructure in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2013-2020, approved by the Decree of the President Islam Karimov of 27 June 2013, marked a new stage in ensuring the dynamic development of information resources, systems, and networks of Uzbekistan.

The internet festival has been held since 2001. Since 2007, with the aim of developing resources of the Uzbekistan segment of the Internet .Uz national domain internet festival has been organized annually.

As of August 12, 2013 16733 active domains are registered only in the second level of the "UZ" zone. Furthermore, there are several thousands third level domains, also belonging to the domain UZ.

The main objectives of the festival, held this year from August 13 to September 23 are popularization of the Internet among the general population, assisting in the development of national content and scope of the Uzbek language in the global information network.

Assessment was conducted by a jury of eminent specialists in the field of Internet technologies, art, culture, politics, and other fields.

The competition program of the festival included 10 thematic and 2 special categories, as well as a special award from the national search engine WWW.UZ for participants in each of the 10 thematic nominations.

An information and analytical news site "Mezon.uz" (www.mezon.uz ) took the first place among the media web-site. The site of the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan (www.uza.uz) came second, while the third place went to Kun.uz news site.

The jury also announced "Best site in the field of science and education", "Best Website of government and public authorities", "Best theme site", "Best site in the area of culture", "Best site in the area of network services", "E-commerce", "Best corporate Website" and "Best site in the field of sports" and others.
