The Autogrill Group, through its subsidiary HMSHost, today announced the extension of its partnership with UK-based Leon Restaurants, the taste good and do good healthy fast food chain, by securing a feature site at the new Heathrow Terminal 2 : The Queen's Terminal. The new restaurant will be Leon's largest location, being over 2,600 square feet and featuring 130 covers, and is expected to open its doors next spring.

This will be the second and largest airport opening for HMSHost and Leon Restaurants, and follows the successful openings of their restaurants in London's newly renovated Kings Cross station and at Heathrow Terminal 3. The brand new restaurant will be situated in the post-security area of Heathrow Terminal 2, catering to over 20,000 hungry travellers per day.

The purpose-built restaurant will feature fabrics and materials that tell a story of aviation history, amongst others through the use of reclaimed bricks from the old Heathrow Control Tower that made way for the new Terminal 2. The Leon restaurant theme is distinct from the terminal but still speaks of a language of aviation and the chic, industrial and organic quality of Leon's product.

Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International, commented: “At HMSHost we are thrilled and enthusiastic by bringing Leon to the dynamic new centre of London Heathrow. 15 million travellers a year can experience that natural fast food can be healthy, full of flavour and full of goodness. Ultimately this will enhance the experience for guests at Heathrow Airport and 'Making the Traveler's Day Better', according to our vision.”

This latest opening will take Leon's total estate to 14 as part of the group's expansion plans which is meeting demand by customers for a healthier, tastier alternative to traditional fast food. Transport hubs such as Heathrow will play an increasingly important part of Leon's future growth, targeting customers who want to eat tasty fast food on the move or soak up restaurant's iconic surroundings.

Henry Dimbleby, Leon's co-founder and CEO, added: “When we started Leon we wanted to revolutionise fast food. We wanted to make it easy for everyone to eat good food. We are thrilled that Leon is the only fast food restaurant in T2 and occupies such a prominent spot. It proves that it is possible not only to serve fast food that tastes good and does you good, but to do it at a price that is accessible to everyone.”

Leon will serve its full menu, covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and its “Bits in Between” range. Popular menu items include Leon's “Banana Power Smoothies”, “Poached Egg Pots” and “Porridge of the Gods” to “Fishfinger Wraps”, signature “Hot Boxes” and “Leon's Original Superfood Salad”.

Leon at Heathrow Terminal 2 will bring together the wholesome food experience that Leon is renowned for together with holiday and travel memories for each customer, a place where travellers can eat, reminisce and create new memories.
