OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2013. The state-owned share of the Republic of Belarus in the authorized fund of the Belarusian-Russian mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (hereafter “MTS”) is 51% and is under operating control of the national telecommunications operator RUE Beltelecom. 
 
The presentation of the operator is conducted with a view to demonstrate its capabilities to potential customers: due to the implementation of innovative technologies and high level of services, MTS is one of the largest telecommunication operators in Belarus. Moreover, the event serves as a platform for preliminary negotiations on a possible transaction. 
 
Currently MTS has a subscriber base of 5.26 million customers. The company’s coverage area is 98.41% of the territory of the Republic of Belarus with 99.84% of the country’s population.
 
The mobile operator has a network enabling provision of 98.4% of the population with mobile communications of 2G standard. 3G standard technologies provide communications in the capital, all regional and district centers of Belarus covering 24.7% of the territory of the Republic of Belarus with 80.5% of the country’s population. International roaming is available in the networks of 541 operators in 192 countries and territories worldwide.
 
To ensure high quality services MTS is constantly conducting infrastructure upgrade works. In 2012 MTS launched fixed Internet access services over Ethernet technology offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps; set up the first in Belarus operator’s online store shop.mts.by, where just like in Customer Care Centers a wide range of equipment (telephones, tablets, modems) is presented. As of the end of the 2nd quarter of 2013 there are over 1,500 retail facilities in Belarus, including 82 own communications stores of the company.
