OREANDA-NEWS. The 6th International Conference “Compulsory Liability Insurance: System Approaches in Implementation of Guaranteed Compensation of Damages” took place on September 24, 2013. The event was organized by the Russian Association of Motor Insurers. The National Union of Liability Insurers acted as a partner of the conference.

Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Russian Association of Motor Insurers, National Union of Liability Insurers, leading insurers of the branch, consulting companies, as well as market experts and representatives of the Guild of Actuaries took part in the event. The conference's business program featured the discussion of long-term development of compulsory types of insurance in the Russian Federation, examples of successful international experience, tariff policy, development of compulsory civil liability motor-vehicle insurance in the country's regions, issues of actuarial practice and other aspects of compulsory insurance.

Igor Yamov, Deputy CEO of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, presented a report on the topic: “Possibility of Applying GLONASS Technologies for the Development of Motor Insurance in the Russian Federation.” In his address, Igor Yamov spoke about the role of GLONASS technology in furthering traffic safety, development of insurance programs with application of telematic systems. Also on possibilities of setting individual tariff depending on driving style, region of operation and schedule of using a motor vehicle, adherence to traffic rules and other aspects of satellite system technology application in insurance.

Commenting on results of the event, Igor Yamov, in particular, noted that: “Application of GLONASS technologies provides us with an opportunity to developed so-called 'smart' insurance, that is to say, create programs, which take into account risk profile of a specific customer. Such an approach allows us to set fair tariffs and, in the end, benefits careful and experienced drivers, who are not involved in traffic accidents and don't provoke them. As of today, we are close to active implementation of programs based on Pay-As-You-Drive principle and we are sure that the future of motor insurance is directly linked to application of telematic systems.
